Alli & Michael: Married!

Alli and Michael’s engagement was short; once they’d decided to spend their lives together, why wait any longer than necessary? Both are rowing coaches, and they met several years ago when Alli was hired as Michael’s assistant. Job changes and a six-hour-drive separated them for a while, but eventually Alli was again hired as Michael’s assistant — this time at the University of Georgia. They are truly a match made in heaven.

Alli’s hair and make-up were done by Julie at Formal Faces; she did a fantastic job and was super sweet. She has a beautiful smile, too!
Once Alli was dressed, her little nieces came to see her, and they were convinced that Alli was a real, live princess.

Alli, you are simply stunning!

Michael’s dad was his best man, and his brothers and a few friends made up the remainder of the groomsmen. One childhood friend came all the way from his home in England to take part in the wedding.
I absolutely love the look on Alli’s dad’s face when he saw her for the first time that day, all grown up and about to be married…

The prayers of those who love you are a very special gift; the girls all prayed for Alli and Michael right before the ceremony started.praying for the bride

So in love…

After their wedding at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (our home church!), we headed to the reception at Olde Town Athletic Club. The staff was great, and the food was fabulous! Alli, Michael, and their guests danced and danced — fueled by a great DJ from Spectrum Entertainment.
Other than the bride and groom, this was my favorite couple of the night:

After all the fun of the reception, Michael gave a few words of thanks to everyone for coming, to Alli’s parents for all their help and planning with the wedding, and to Alli for loving him and praying for him. They said their good-byes and headed out, surrounded by love and bubbles…

By now, Alli and Michael are honeymooning in the Caribbean.
May God bless you both — and thank you SO much for letting us share this amazing day with you!

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs! More to come this week!

We love Guest Books!

Why do we love guest books? Just a few reasons…

  1. A guest book is so much more personal than an ordinary sign-in book;
  2. you can choose a cover fabric you love, and even coordinate with your wedding colors;
  3. there’s room for friends and family to write a note, rather than just their names;
  4. you’ll actually pull this back out to look at it years from now, unlike a standard sign-in book;
  5. it contains photos from your engagement session, so guests can ooh and aah over how adorably in love you are as they write a heartfelt note!

This is a 5×7 guest book in chocolate brown silk (other sizes and fabric choices available):

Re-Creating Oldies

We’re goofballs.
Lindsey, our 15 year old daughter, tells us we’re cool, but I think any time we pull off being cool, it is completely by accident. :) Our goofiness is fun, though — or at least, we think so! One of the sometimes goofy things we do is re-create old photos or art. A few weeks ago, we recruited Lindsey to play model in re-creating “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer:

Last week, I talked Ken into posing as Fred Astaire. He is a great dancer, but doesn’t typically wear a top hat when we go dancing. ;) The story behind this top hat is fantastic: the mom of one of our upcoming brides read on facebook that we were looking for a top hat for a photo, so she volunteered to send us — from Florida — the top hat her grandfather wore in his 1912 wedding! How fantastic is that!?! Here’s Ken as Fred Astaire:

And then, because we wanted one of these with both of us in it, we chose an old Hollywood favorite: a Gone With the Wind movie poster. The not laughing was the hardest part. Especially with Ken’s penciled-on mustache and the kids giggling as they watched us.

Ken and Jamie as Rhett and Scarlett

We’ve got one of these in mind for Kathryn to do soon, and my mom. I’m still looking for one to suit Brandon. And Lindsey has a beautiful, funny, red-headed friend who says she’ll pose for one of these, and I have the perfect one in mind for her! I think Ken could do a Frank Sinatra, too. Suggestions welcome — these are so fun for us!
