Now that little Lila Jane’s birth announcements have been sent, I can FINALLY share photos from her newborn session a few weeks ago! Isn’t she gorgeous!?! Lila Jane is a strong girl, too — when we did these photos, she was eleven days old and rolled over. I kept telling her that she’s not suppose to do that yet; Ken said she’d be walking by Christmas!
The Christmas cards/birth announcements they sent are gorgeous. They were designed by Megan of EllaBella Photo Card Designs. Nita had seen baby announcements that she loved, where the baby’s feet made the “V” in “LOVE.” We took that adorable idea and ran with it…

When we got started with family photos, Lila Jane decided it was time to sleep. But that’s a baby’s prerogative, so it was perfectly fine! With a newborn photo session, we expect someone to get peed on, at least one poopy diaper to need changing, and more little “interruptions.” We’re parents, too, so we know how it is and we allow plenty of time for those sorts of things. :)
You may have noticed those bright green bracelets; those are “Brockie bands” and you can read about their meaning here (on Nita’s blog).
Daddy Drew couldn’t stop kissing Lila Jane’s head. So sweet!
The boys l-o-v-e their little sister. They are going to be so protective of her! It makes me all mushy inside to see them with her. Each one wanted a photo holding her so they can frame it and put it on their bedside table. SWEET! These boys are going to make wonderful daddies someday…

There is special meaning for the teddy bear wearing a “Big Brother” t-shirt: Asa wore the shirt when Mason was born; Mason wore it when Barrett was born; Barrett wore it when Brock was born. Since Brock went to heaven before becoming a big brother, he didn’t get to wear it, so little Barrett put it on Brock’s old teddy bear. When Nita explained this to me, I thought it was perfect. Nita and Drew have FIVE children with the addition of Lila Jane, so a photo with only four would be incomplete; with Buddy the bear in the photo, Brock is represented, too. This is my very favorite photo from the whole session because you can see that Lila Jane’s big brothers are absolutely in love with her…
I mentioned before that Drew and Nita have a great sense of humor, too, and this last photo is proof positive! We were just about done, and asked if there were any other photos they wanted us to capture before we left. Drew said he had an idea — so we headed outside where he’d driven the four-wheeler up on the sidewalk. We got the boys situated, got the lighting set up, and then brought Lila Jane out dressed in pink as a funny juxtaposition to the camouflaged four-wheeler. Nita played actress to look like she was yelling at them to stop before driving off with her little girl! I have a feeling it’ll only be a couple of years before Lila Jane is riding that thing with them for real!
Thank you SO much for letting us share in this special time with your family!
